  • Seeing how technology is changing everything scares me when thinking about the future. When it gets to the point when all cars drives itself, i think about situations like, what if something happens like someone or a group of ppl decides to hack the system that controls these cars then no one can use their vehicles. What stops the government from doing that if they want to for any reason. All this technology being implemented in our lives is just taking control away from us as the people. Gotta think about who is controlling all this technology when it gets to that point because they will be in control of all of us and we will be at their mercy

  • Why would they need to figure out how to make an electric car sound good? One of the benefits of an electric car is the lack of engine noises. Drive an electric car for a week, then get into a car with an ICE, and tell me the engine noise isn't annoying.

    NightflyNightfly6 päeva tagasi
    • @Nightfly nah you hear the engine better

    • @SİLVERGLOBAL EW1R You do, it's been tested and proven. In city traffic, tire noise is louder than the engine noise. Especially with EV's, as they are heavier and thus produce more tire noise. Tire noise is the noise of the tires on the road, the "zooming" sound, which is what you hear when a car is approaching.

      NightflyNightfly5 päeva tagasi
    • @Nightfly You do not hear tire noise

    • @SİLVERGLOBAL EW1R How do you not understand that you do hear the tire noise? You cannot hear the engine over the tire noise as in city traffic the tire noise is louder than the engine noise. You're saying you can hear someone whisper over someone drilling. It doesn't make any logical sense.

      NightflyNightfly5 päeva tagasi
    • @Nightfly in order for me to hear tire noise I either have to be at a point blank range or the other person is sliding or at the limit of grip I'm also not American

  • No flying cars? It depends on how you define a car. Like you mention there is a shift moving toward ubiquitous mobility. Will a car simply be a mobility machine? This is especially true where I work. We have an entire division devoted to urban air mobility.

Many will push for hydrogen but people hate waiting during fueling up. Ethanol will go even higher in popularity, and conversions to it. • I doubt these emission regulations will stand. Its one thing to write a law. Its quite another to completely redesign the energy infrastructure of a country. Not only does the electricity grid have to be improved, despite its own complete redesign, but so do gas stations and charging technology. Let's see how long politicians stand by regulation when 3/4 of the population cant afford to leave their house. Or to buy the new electric cars.

  • The US is about 40 years behind in infrastructure upgrades and repairs. We aren't going to see mass smart roads that help EV self driving anytime soon (the occasional test road sure) but for a freeway - that takes decades. The government is the literal road block because of how slow bureaucracy takes to get things moving. Planning, budgeting, spending, contracts, vital locations, etc etc etc all have to get drawn up and approved by the house and currently Biden's two trillion dollar plan is not getting much headway. So no we won't see major "smart" roads to help driverless cars anytime in the near future - we will see a bunch of test roads though which will get marketed as moving forward for campaigning purposes but that's about it.

  • I don't care that electric and other forms of car engines are coming into the scene BUT DONT take away my freedom of choice if I want an ICE engine. This whole electric vehicle bullshit that California is pushing on everyone in the next decade is a good overreach of government power. Don't mess with my choice. If you want a hydrogen powered car, cool. If you want an electric car, you do you. Don't force a decision that will probably bite you in the ass later on down the road

    Dynasty1KDynasty1K9 päeva tagasi
  • Electric cars won't work, we can't mine enough Lithium and rare earth to provide the Batteries and internal parts for all the Electric cars. I personally think Porsche has the right direction: They try to engineer synthetic Bio-neutral fuels. We would create an even bigger Waste Problem by getting rid of the Combustion cars. I personally think it will in the end be hydrogen that will power us in 25 years. The hydrogen fuel cell is a awesome way to create energy and it is in fact the most clean way to drive.

So when the millennial generation lies themselves into driving miserable little peasant cars and only the super rich own cool cars, just remember that you brought it on yourselves. I dont have to worry about it in my lifetime because we dont take orders from soy boy cowards that are terrified the worlds going to end and were all going to burn from tye holes in the ozone. Yeah ozone, that was the lie they were spouting in the early 90s that turnee out to be bullshit. PEVs are at least 10x more efficient. 1kwh will get you 4km in a Tesla. 1kwh gets you 40km on an e-scooter. At a decent speed too, a good 40-50km/h. For our short-range transportation (which is most of our trips) a PEV is far better.
